Retro promotional tray

To promote the 45th Anniversary of its original TV dinner, Swanson packaged 45 of its TV dinners in the original non-microwavable aluminum tray during a three-month period that ends in May.

Consumers who buy dinners in these trays win a 52" color TV. The odds of buying one of these however were slim. Both current microwavable trays and the 45 winning versions were packed in a paperboard carton printed with identical "TV screen" graphics which were similar to those of the original 1954 carton.
