Markem-Imaje Corporation, worldwide manufacturer and distributor of product identification and traceability solutions has announced the acquisition of RSI Systems, LLC of Frederick (Maryland, USA) a leading manufacturer of integrated thermal inkjet (TIJ) printing solutions. The acquisition, effective July 1, 2013, will enable Markem-Imaje to offer TIJ printing solutions for printing high resolution codes, such as complex 2D barcodes, that can be used for traceability, anti-diversion and promotional coding printing applications. RSI will continue to offer its leading products and services to its customers under the RSI brand while operating as a separate division of Markem-Imaje.
Combining the global sales and service network and innovative ink development of Markem-Imaje with the products and TIJ expertise of RSI will enable Markem-Imaje to deliver new innovations in TIJ high resolution printing and ink solutions that its customers can use for demanding high speed, traceability printing applications as well as standard coding and marking applications worldwide.
With the recent growth in connecting social media with product promotion and product traceability needs, Markem-Imaje sees thermal ink jet as an important enabling technology to meet or exceed its customers’ emerging product promotion and product traceability printing expectations.
