Packaging sex scandal of the year!

By Jim Chrzan, Associate Publisher
A Daily Mail reader in the UK.and students from St. Blasien Jesuit College, near Freiburg, in Germany, raised a stink in the Fall of ’09 about Haribo's new Maoam candy wrappers, depicting fruits having sex.

While some bloggers expressed shock, others laughed it off as “rude.”

According to the article on website Packaging News UK (which awarded this package “Tabloid Scandal of the Year—2009”), a Maoam spokesperson said the wrappers were not created to cause offence but that the character was designed as a unique and jovial figure.

Judge for yourself! Candy is dandy!
