New Zealand recycler refuses to take Tetra Pak...
milk cartons saying it is not economically feasible to process the milk bottle alternative.
Recycling contractor Nelmac says the Scandinavian-made cartons have to be recycled overseas because no one in New Zealand has the machinery to process them. "I know that Meadow Fresh has said those things are recyclable but basically they are not," says solid waste project manager. "We were told they could be used for plant containers. People wanting to use recyclable milk containers should buy the milk packaged in plastic bottles instead," says Emma Manhart.
