"Green" costs less as oil prices rise...
This year, Wal-Mart, Wild Oats Market and a host of other retailers, as well as food suppliers like Del Monte and Newman's Own Organics, have embraced corn-based packaging for fresh produce.
Pressure now comes from shareholders, communities and consumers concerned about global warming, leaking landfills and other potential environmental hazards. Not a "tree hugger" passing fad, enviromentally inspired packaging here to stay.
