Award-winning oval-shaped tissue pack

Produced by Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. (www.smurfit-stone.com)&#44 the Holiday Oval Kleenex Facial Tissue Carton from Kimberly-Clark is the winner of the 2006 National Paperboard Packaging Competition sponsored annually by the Paperboard Packaging Council (www.ppcnet.org).
By ,

From the use of holographic material to the specially placed ornament sphere graphics this package is the result of a combination of highly critical production processes. The oval-shaped body and bottom are paperboard. The bottom is heat-sealed to the body on a canister-making machine. The 16-pt SBS body is printed offset in seven colors plus a UV varnish. It is adhesive-laminated to a polyester layer that carries a holographic decoration. This gives the container an attention-grabbing sense of motion when the consumer passes it in the store.

The lid is also SBS but injection-molded around it is polystyrene. The lid snaps into the body and consumers pull tissue from the canister in the usual manner: by pulling sheets through a slit. The profile of the lid allows canisters to stack neatly and securely thus improving merchandising and display opportunities.
