Price hikes pinch beer margins
Brewers are taking it on the chin as much as anyone when it comes to rising packaging costs, forcing them, and wholesalers, to find new ways to reduce operating and production costs and increase volumes and prices.
To make matters worse consumption has remained flat for the past several years and is expected to grow by only 0.5% next year. The good news for the beer industry is that so far at least Congress seems unlikely to raise excise taxes on their product.
