New environment label bill in California

In an effort to bring California into compliance with federal environmental advertising claims guidelines by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)&#44 industry is backing a state environment labeling bill prohibiting environmental marketing claims that do not meet or exceed requirements for substantiation&#44 are not consistent with examples in the FTC guidelines&#44 or are identified as deceptive claims by those guidelines.

Marketing claims include "ozone friendly" "biodegradable" "photodegradable" "recyclable" and "recycled." The California Senate has approved the bill but the California State Assembly still has to act on it.
