What f'REAL! Foods learned when it changed from preprinted cups to shrink sleeves used on frozen products sold at convenience stores.
Print Reprint

In 2007, f'REAL! Foods, Orinda, CA, switched from offset-printed cups to shrink-sleeves for its frozen dairy products prepackaged in 10-oz cups sold at convenience stores. The company's director of operations, Jens Voges, believes this is the first frozen product with a shrink sleeve.

In this approximate 7-minute Podcast interview with Packaging World technical editor Rick Lingle, learn from Voges:

  • Why f'REAL changed package graphic formats
  • How it addressed the challenges of using shrink sleeves on a frozen product in a tapered cup, including distortion print and adhesion application
  • Its introductory "trick" ahead of a full conversion as a "good way to get a lot of the learning out of the way."
