Ticon: Liquid crystal polymers
Vectran™ is a liquid crystal polymer developed by Ticona (Summit, NJ) to be co-processable with conventional packaging resins and processes, including operations involving thermoforming.
High oxygen and water vapor barrier plus thermal and chemical resistance are said to make Vectran suitable for multilayer films and rigid packaging for retortable pouches closures trays and lids. Applications include large-scale food and medical packaging.
