Convenience Food Systems: PP sheet
A lightweight expanded PP material called XPP has been introduced by Convenience Food Systems (Avon, MA). For use as a thermoformed food tray, the material can have added to it an EVOH layer for gas barrier, thus making it suitable for MAP applications.
The material is microwavable yet allows the consumer to comfortably handle the heated package the company says. Thicknesses range from 20 to 60 mils.
