Sizzling sleeves boost lamb's taste appeal in meat case
Lamb traditionally has been a slow-moving item in the meat aisle.
Superior Farms, Davis, CA, is increasing consumer attention to its lamb products with highly visual sleeves that differentiate its premarinated lamb, marketed under the Mediterranean Grill brand, from other packaged lamb products.Aisle 9 designed innovative SBS chipboard sleeves, from Warneke Paper Box Co., that call attention to the product line. They’re printed offset in four-color process with a glossy aqueous coating to give the graphics extra visual sizzle. The cartons also include a die-cut window that highlights the shape and design of the brand logo and also enable shoppers to see the bagged meat inside the cartons.The package’s high-impact billboard has enabled Superior Farms to launch the product line in Albertsons markets across California.Learn about packaging innovation at The Packaging Conference in Orlando, February 3-5, 2014Angela Gentry, marketing manager, Superior Farms, says, “With only a small section of the meat case dedicated to lamb, we’ve been looking for a packaging solution that would be dynamic and attract attention. From there, we knew we could get new lamb lovers.”
