“The decision to buy these products is often made at the point of purchase and the packaging [is what] sells” says Karsten Lauf the company’s brand marketing manager. Fazer selected a silver cellophane twist wrap from UCB Films (Smyrna GA). UCB plants in England produce the 0.94-mil metallized cellophane that is coated on both sides with polyvinylidene chloride to provide moisture and oxygen barrier.
“By using cellophane we can best utilize the capacity of our new twist machines. The twist properties of the cellophane are excellent resulting in a good wrap at maximum speed” says Arvi Nikkanen Fazer’s packaging development manager. Fazer recently installed four ACMA/GD (Richmond VA) 1004/C twist wrappers at its Helsinki plant that wrap the candies at 1/min speeds.
Three varieties of the chocolates are sold in colorful paperboard folding cartons in Finland Norway Sweden Russia the United States Canada Australia and Japan.
