The digital printing technology that PhotoTape uses allows existing graphics, such as online banner ads, posters, and product images, to be easily printed on the tape without additional processing.

The prices of PhotoTape are said to be the same, or even less, than for single-colored custom tapes sold by other companies.  Because PhotoTape does not charge up front plate fees, e-Commerce startups are finding PhotoTape an efficient way to promote their brand.

Using PhotoTape helps lower packaging costs:  product labels can be consolidated on the PhotoTape themselves; instead of printing and applying product labels to the boxes separately, the printed tape can provide the product information in full color with the related barcodes – reducing the total packaging costs, but also the time required to apply the product labels on the boxes; upfront investment of using PhotoTape is unnecessary because PhotoTape uses industry standard dimensions; also, companies can now reduce box inventory by eliminating the multiple same-size printed boxes that were previously necessary.
