Building on success in lightweight clay-coated liners the family of Stora Enso’s LumiSil release base papers now includes a wide range of medium- and heavy-weight grades for a variety of applications.

Product Range

LumiSil covers a basis weight range from 70-250 g/m2 each run to industry standard grammages and calipers. The standard lightweight LumiSil is proven successful in general self-adhesive laminations as an alternative to densified kraft while medium and heavier weights are ideal for a variety of applications including graphic arts and decorative vinyl laminates. Additionally grades are available for sheeted office applications and for self-adhesive postage stamp backing. Further the LumiSil family includes a grade specifically designed for silicone coating on both sides of the sheet used in tape applications.

Product Features & Benefits

LumiSil’s smooth surface allows customers to achieve lower silicone coat weights delivering a cost savings to them. This grade is compatible with a wide range of silicone chemistries and features excellent lay flat and die-cutability on a wide range of paper and film facestocks.

“LumiSil’s lay flat characteristics are second to none” notes Steve Liakos vice president of Stora Enso’s Technical Papers. “The reverse side treatment is specifically engineered to provide balance and optimal sheet structure for lay flat.”

Significant Stora Enso research and product development resources have been devoted to LumiSil development. “Supported by investments in modern testing equipment pilot facilities and technical expertise the LumiSil grade line displays our commitment to offer self-adhesive industry customers a complete line of premium products” explains Liakos.
