–Crown Cork & Seal (Philadelphia PA) broke ground in Libertyville IL on its 112 sq’ expansion to Zeller Plastik its plastic closures div.

–ExxonMobil Chemical Co. (Houston TX) and Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding (Tokyo Japan) joined local officials and contractors to kick off construction of a production expansion for a metallocene ethylene elastomer products facility in Baton Rouge LA.

–Krones AG (Neutraubling Germany) joined with the Kosme Group (Sollenau Austria) to strengthen its position in the bottling and packaging sectors worldwide.

–Cozzoli Machine Co. (Plainfield NJ) broke ground on a new 100 sq’ facility in Somerset NJ to be completed at the end of 2002.

–Ring Can Corp. (Oakland TN) changed its name to Ring Container Technologies to emphasize its exclusive focus on plastic container technology.

–DuPont (Wilmington DE) installed a state-of-the-art blown film line for coextruded flexible packaging structures at the company’s European Technical Centre in Geneva Switzerland.

–Arpac (Schiller Park IL) acquired Infra Pak (Plano TX).

–Pactiv Corp. (Lake Forest IL) purchased Winkler Forming Inc. (Santa Fe Springs CA) for $72.5 million.

–Barry-Wehmiller Companies Inc. (St. Louis MO) acquired the majority of the assets and business of Mateer Burt (Exton PA).
