Baby wipes get a zippered pack
First it's the highest-count package in this category. Second it's the first baby wipes package to have a zipper reclosure. The manufacturing of the package begins with Curwood (OshkoshWI) which produces a three-layer lamination of eight-color gravure-printed polypropylene on the outside polyester in the middle and LDPE on the inside. (Material thickness was not provided.) Minigrip Zip-Pak (Manteno IL) extrudes a low-density polyethylene zipper profile onto the rollstock and then forms bags which are supplied to K-C on wickets. This package represents K-C's first venture into a refill pack for baby wipes. According to Mark Cross marketing director in the wet wipes sector at K-C production of 80-count rigid plastic tubs will continue. "We expect the retail price of the refill pack to be in the five to six dollar range" says Cross. "It should offer a savings to the consumer of about fifteen percent compared to our eighty-count tubs."
