The Bud aluminum bottle blitz follows on the heels of an earlier successful introduction of Michelob Michelob Light and Anheuser World Select beers in similar premium packaging initially targeted primarily to upscale bars and clubs in major U.S. metropolitan areas.

Produced by Exal USA the 16-oz aluminum bottles offer a unique attractive appearance as well as quick-cooling properties. Exal currently is moving to a “coil-to-can” process similar to the method used to produce standard aluminum cans. This process enables high-quality graphics and high-speed bottle production. The metal crown closures are supplied by Crown Cork & Seal.

Anheuser-Busch believes that the expansion of packaging options is key to improving product sales. The quick-chill aluminum bottle is expected to attract high consumer attention and spur more impulse beer buying during the summer season. —Judy Rice
