Phone and phone accessory packaging has made great strides recently in improving user convenience and green considerations, and the improvements are evident in AT&T’s Accessible Pack for Wireless Accessories.

AT&T’s package has been honored with a 2009-2010 AmeriStar Award from the Institute of Packaging Professionals. The package is being used on more than 100 AT&T accessory products to create a unified “family” look on shelf.

The easy-open package makes the product viewable from all angles and even enables shoppers to inspect and try out the product with their own phone—an interactive user experience. Afterward, they can reclose the package without reducing package integrity.

Display Pack and Superior Communications worked together to design and produce the package for AT&T cell phone accessories, which also showcases sustainability initiatives. The package uses 63% less paperboard and 34% less plastic than AT&T’s original packaging for the product. The package is not heat sealed, so greenhouse gas emissions are reduced, and the paperboard and plastic components can be separated and recycled.
