Almac opens new U.S. contract biopharma HQ
Almac, a leading, global service provider to more than 600 pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide, has officially opened its new North American Headquarters. The new HQ is adjacent to its also-new facility in Audubon, Pennsylvania. Earlier in May, the company installed a new Uhlmann blister line.
One of Northern Ireland’s most successful companies the Almac Group, is celebrating the official opening of its new North American Headquarters. The $120 million, 240,000 sq-ft foot facility houses more than 800 employees in state-of-the-art facilities. With low greenhouse gas emissions and a water reclamation program, the facility strives to maintain sustainability and has already added 300 new jobs to the greater Philadelphia region.
The official opening was performed by former U.S. Senator George J. Mitchell, who most recently served as Special Envoy to the Middle East and was Chairman of the all party negotiations which led to the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Read more about the event here.
IAM completes acquisition of Market Resource Packaging
IAM Acquisition, an Atlanta-based holding company that invests in supply chain services, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Market Resource Packaging, a supply chain services company that provides primary and secondary packaging and logistics solutions.
The acquisition combines Market Resource Packaging’s 20-plus years of successful customer service with the proven industry expertise of the IAM Acquisition team, led by former Wilpak founder Eric Wilhelm (pictured).
“Market Resource Packaging has a long history of delivering innovative solutions to some of the largest, most respected companies in the world and the completion of this acquisition represents our team’s combined commitment to our customers,” said Wilhelm, IAM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Market Resource Packaging. “Our goal is to further enhance the solid platform that Market Resource Packaging has established by introducing additional resources, proven processes and a solid approach to business intelligence that will further enhance our customers’ ability to drive revenue.”

Cavanna Packaging Group opens North American Headquarters
Cavanna Packaging USA, , a subsidiary of the Italian Cavanna Packaging Group, officially opened its North American headquarters operations in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth, GA. The grand opening celebration, held May 24, highlighted the facility's 12 employees, a number that will "significantly grow as production increases," the company said. The 21,000 sq-ft facility building represents the company’s efforts to expand its customer base and build on its 52 years of providing complete wrapping machines and systems.
The new facility complements the company's other facilities in Italy and Brazil with additional manufacturing, engineering, customer support and parts inventories.
Parent Cavanna Packaging Group, with global headquarters in Prato Sesia, Italy, designs, produces and distributes integrated, horizontal flow wrapping machines and turnkey systems for single-pack and multipack wrapping of food, pharmaceutical, and non-food products. The company also provides associated upstream accumulation and buffering systems, automatic loaders and robotic, secondary packaging systems.
New name for Saddle Creek Corp.
Lakeland, Fla.-based Saddle Creek Corp., a nationwide third-party logistics provider, has changed its name to Saddle Creek Logistics Services , effective May 30, 2012. The new name is intended to better represent the company’s capabilities, which include warehousing, transportation, packaging and order fulfillment.
In announcing the change, Cliff Otto, Saddle Creek president, noted the company's growth and new capabilities, adding: "We believe this new name better reflects our ultimate focus – delivering integrated logistics solutions tailored to meet our customers’ needs." In recent years, Saddle Creek has increasingly moved toward tighter integration of its warehousing, transportation, contract packaging and order fulfillment services, which cater to manufacturers, retailers and distributors as well as online merchants. Saddle Creek Logistics Services operates more than 14 million square feet of space in 28 locations with help from more than 2,000 associates nationwide.
