Klockner Pentaplast: PET films use 100% PCR content
The Pentaform SmartCycle film product line from Klockner Pentaplast has been extended to include Pentaform SmartCycle PET films consisting of 100% post-consumer-recycled (PCR) content.
Pentaform SmartCycle TH-ES100 films are made from 100% PCR material from beverage bottles, unlike standard PCR films, which combine PCR content and virgin resin. Pentaform SmartCycle films help customers meet their sustainability goals for visual packaging applications. Suitable for face-seal, tray, and trapped blister thermoformed applications, Pentaform SmartCycle films offer clarity, and processability on standard thermoforming and form/fill/seal equipment. Klöckner Pentaplast is the exclusive global supplier of SmartCycle packaging films. Through its own bottle recycling facility, the company has recovered more than 11.6 billion plastic bottles into a its SmartCycle packaging films. SmartCycle films are engineered for thermoform, food, and box packaging applications with guaranteed PCR content range of 25% to 100%, as well as heat-seal (25% and 50% PCR) and RF-seal (35% PCR) formulations. Food-grade SmartCycle films comply with all FDA regulations for direct food contact, as well as all applicable EU regulations and directives for food contact. SmartCycle films are certified to meet US domestic packaging regulations. SmartCycle films are also California RPPC, RoHS, and CONEG heavy metals compliant. The company engaged NSF International to provide independent, third-party verification of post-consumer recycled content claims for the entire line of SmartCycle rigid polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films according to the requirements of ISO 14021 Environmental labels and declarations--self-declared environmental claims (Type II environmental labeling)--and 16 CFR Part 260 Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims.
