DuPont Packaging: Resin maintains freshness
DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers has launched DuPont™ Selar® VP Technology, an ionomer chemistry-based resin offering diverse performance capabilities and enhanced permeability properties for fresh food packaging.
Technology’s flexibility allows it to accommodate various desired packaging applications and properties requiring high and selective gas permeability to oxygen or water vapor. These properties permit packers to package fresh-cut produce as well as meet FDA guidelines on products such as fresh fish, because the package breathes and lets gases transfer in and out. Selar VP is processable on conventional film converting and end-use equipment, and maintains conventional appearance while helping to increase shelf life and freshness. Additionally, 30% of the resin content comes from renewable sources.
