Stretch wrapper with integrated RFID
Lantech's Q-300 Wrap 'n Read stretch wrapper offers fully integrated RFID tag reading.
The machine has a Gen 2 certified Symbol Technologies Model XR400RFID reader and wireless bridge mounted inside the mast. It is also equipped with Symbol's AN400 area antennas on adjustable brackets attached to the roll carriage. To help ensure accuracy the reader is active only when the machine is wrapping. Tag data is wirelessly transmitted from the wrapper to the user's warehouse management system.
The first such Q-300 which was exhibited at Pack Expo Las Vegas was delivered to a facility of third-party logistics provider Exel. At Exel's facility in Harrisburg PA the Q-300 is integrated into an RFID-enabled order fulfillment system.
Lantech plans to create a retrofit RFID package to permit operating machines to be upgraded for RFID tag reading using various vendors' hardware.
