This application note provides an introduction to programming a rotary cam application. This is demonstrated using a rotary knife application, but applies to other types of applications such as rotary placers. Yaskawa offers both of these applications in a Solution Package.

A rotary cam application is any application where a rotary axis moves in a non-linear pattern based on the speed of another axis. Usually, there is a sensor to detect a product or a mark on a package. This sensor signal is used to determine where the rotary axis needs to be to perform its operation.
