Equipping the machine with ELAU’s PacDrive automation system means that a change management system and modular, pre-tested and simple to validate software are built-in. Using Intelligent Servo Modules that eliminate conventional servo drives, Serpa has shrunk the electrical cabinet and taken advantage of the balcony design for easy access to the integrated servo modules and other components.
Accessible, simple
The packaging side of the casepacker is completely accessible from the operator side, including the load station. A patent pending, positive dual vacuum case erector feeds a vacuum assisted walking beam that presents squared up cases to a telescoping funnel for accurate product loading.
The operator panel, a Magelis XBTGT5230 from Schneider Electric, also provide accessibility on another level, with connectivity options that include USB, Ethernet and serial communications, plus multilingual font and language support, ease of use and configuration, and support for third party drivers.
Standard range, up to 30 cpm
The standard range packs a minimum case size of 6” L x 5” W x 4.5_ and a maximum of 20” L x 13”W x 13”D. Larger ranges are also available. Machine footprint is just 6’ 5” wide and 8’ 3” long with a 4’ long case magazine. Fully automatic Serpa casepackers can operate at speeds up to 30 cases per minute and are available in side load, bottom load and wrap-around configurations to handle trays, RSC cases and other case types. Machines may also be customized.
Serpa’s P200 Casepackers and P100 Balcony Cartoners are both designed from the ground up for pharmaceutical applications and are therefore “validation friendly.” In addition, Serpa offers FDA validation services, full GAMP documentation, validation protocols and field execution.
The company also specializes in turnkey packaging lines for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and personal care industries that integrate Serpa cartoners, casepackers and traypackers as well as primary packaging filling and sealing, laners, feeders, vision inspection, checkweighers and other specialty automation equipment.
