Key Technology: Vibratory conveyors

Key Technology introduced enhancements to its popular Iso-Flo® family of stainless steel vibratory conveyors.

Featuring a new patent-pending drive arrangement, frame design and screen clamp, these enhancements maximize machine efficiency, enhance sanitation and improve ergonomics on processing and/or packaging lines.

Key’s new patent-pending drive arrangement for Iso-Flo includes a unique motor mount, made integral with the base frame, and an electrical circuit. This arrangement enables a pair of vibratory motors to impart synchronized reciprocal vibratory motion to the conveyor bed, which maximizes the conveyor’s efficiency and reliability while minimizing maintenance.

Key has replaced Iso-Flo’s traditional tubular frame with a shaped plate frame that is up to 1.5 times stronger, which allows less material to be used to achieve comparable strength. The new shaped plate frame is open and easy to clean, which enhances sanitation.

For Iso-Flo conveyors with screens, a new over-center screen clamp enables the screen to lock in place, assuring the screen is aligned and positioned correctly and securely. In addition to being easier to use, it eliminates the rattling that can occur if a traditional screen clamp loosens over time. The new clamp allows operators and the sanitation staff to remove and replace the screen with no tools required. This new screen clamp allows for lighter weight screens, which improve ergonomics.

Iso-Flo uses independent, frame-mounted drives and spring arm assemblies that distribute energy equally to all parts of the conveyor bed in a controlled natural-frequency operation. This operating principle minimizes the vibration that is transferred to the structural support, reducing the cost of installation and enabling the conveyors to be installed exactly where it is most beneficial – suspected from overhead, supported from the floor, or mounted to other machinery. This design also reduces energy use and offers quiet operation.

All Iso-Flo conveyors feature Key’s StrongArm™ spring arms as a standard feature. These contoured arms, made with proprietary high performance composite material, offer an operational life that is up to twice the life of traditional straight spring arms while requiring at least 10 percent fewer spring arms per conveyor. These durable spring arms reduce maintenance costs and minimize downtime.

Key fabricates Iso-Flo’s conveyor bed from one sheet of stainless steel to eliminate welds within the product zone where bacteria can build up and compromise food safety. Iso-Flo satisfies the most stringent sanitation demands in the industry, meeting 3A Dairy Sanitation Standards, EHEDG guidelines, USDA, HACCP, and FDA requirements, and exceeding NEMA 4X washdown specifications.

All Iso-Flo conveyors are backed by Key’s industry-leading five-year warranty that assures equipment reliability while limiting the total cost of ownership. All standard Iso-Flo conveyors feature the CE mark and UL certification.

Key offers Iso-Flo conveyors for product distribution on processing and packaging lines as well as for product alignment, fines removal, scalping, dewatering, inspection, and other applications.

Iso-Flo conveyors are ideal for foods including fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, snacks, confections, coffee, dairy products, meat, poultry, seafood, and pet foods as well as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, virgin and recycled plastics and paper, and other products.
