Productivity doubled with VF/F/S systems
Apfells Fine Coffees, a leading U.S. private-label coffee manufacturer, has boosted productivity, improved setup times, and reduced its environmental impact with the installation of new robag vertical form/fill/seal systems.
Supplied by TNA, the robags were integrated into Apfells’ existing manufacturing operations when the company relocated to new premises. Bagging rates are now doubled to up to 120 bags/min, thanks in part to Spee-Dee cup and augur fillers as well as a valve applicator.
Since the installation of this new equipment, Apfells has recognized clear advantages. “The TNA robag has provided us with significant time and cost savings—crucial benefits in today’s challenging economic climate,” says Apfells chief executive officer Darryl Blunck. “We doubled our bagging rate. In addition, we’ve been able to reduce the amount of wasted bags caused by machine errors, enabling us to lower our environmental impact as well as providing significant financial savings. The machine’s unique design also allows us to switch between products, such as coffee, tea, and pancake mixes, quickly and easily, improving our setup times by up to 90 percent. The new equipment fit seamlessly into our existing processes, causing minimum upheaval and enabling us to maintain production.”
