Schwarz Pharma-style powder packaging
This video supplied by NJM/CLI (www.njmcli.com) shows a line that includes many of the types of equipment found on the new packaging line at Schwarz Pharma, Seymour, IN.
Schwarz's powder-filling line is the focus of a
feature article in the July 2008 issue of Packaging World; NJM/CLI
played a key role in the installation. Schwarz's line comprises unscrambling/orienting, linear filling, rotary filling, checkweighing, metal detection, capping, induction sealing, inspection/labeling, and case packing.
Major differences from this video versus Schwarz's operations include the fact that Schwarz currently runs primarily asymmetric 4-L containers at rates around 60 cpm that are filled in two stages—the first is linear, the second is rotary—on fillers that feature enclosures to improve cleanliness and product yields. However, Schwarz also plans to run smaller-size symmetric bottles similar to those seen in this video.
