Robots handle microbrew packing dutiesFlexible, turnkey robotic systems pack beer in cans, bottles, 6-packs, 12-packs and cases at 200 bpm – ideal for growing microbrewery. Watch the video.
Value in a capital project includes flexibility and future-proofing in
any scenario, but even more so to a small business like a
microbrewery. This is where Nuspark packaging systems really shine.
The company takes turnkey responsibility for two entire case packing lines, one for cans and one for bottles. They begin with single file lines from the bottling and canning operations. Then they are split into 4 lines and staged into 4 x 6 groups for robotic picking and packing.
It’s a simple recipe change for the system to go from 4 6-packs to 2 12-packs to one 24 count case at a rate of 200 bottles/cans per minute. And while two separate lines handle bottles and cans, a simple tooling and recipe change will convert either line to either format. Can height is varied by recipe change as well.
The tooling is the only difference between the two lines, with bladder type grippers for bottles and specially formulated vacuum pickup heads for cans.
Nuspark has adapted Schneider Electric/ELAU packaging automation and delta robot arms to a variety of uses now – from tray packing components to case packing cosmetics to infeeds to dual arm robots to this demanding, heavy payload application.
They’ve combined off-the-shelf mechanics with their knowledge of packaging handling and systems integration for solutions that are fast, compact and easily supported.
