Food emphasis strong at Italian packaging show
Packaging is alive and well in Italy. That was the message conveyed at a press conference held prior to the Ipack-Ima exhibition, held March 18-22 in Milan.
Gian Carlo Vaccari president of show sponsor UCIMA (Milan Italy) said that "Italian companies have closed the gap which previously kept them at a distance from major competitors." Reasons he cited include the introduction of state-of-the-art electronic technologies in machinery and improvements in suppliers' abilities to meet the market demand for complete product lines. Despite Italy's recent recession organizers anticipated an increase in attendence at Ipack-Ima an exhibition with an emphasis on food processing and packaging. Approximately 1 exhibitors were present though final figures on attendance were unavailable at press time. Future issues will carry reports gleaned from the show by a PW editor.
