CP 08 keynote speaker, Jeff George, heads innovation, product and process efforts for Quaker Oats Foods and Snacks. Launching the two-day conference, he shared valuable business insights, plus a non-traditional approach to problem solving, with an attentive audience of contract packagers, consumer packaged goods professionals and suppliers.

A common theme among many of this year's presenters was the importance of collaboration between design and production professionals in package development projects. Simply put, early engagement translates into greater profitability through overall project cost savings.

Sustainability was also a popular topic, with experts discussing why sustainability is part of the business agenda of so many companies today. Contract packagers learned more about an issue that is increasingly a factor in purchase decisions.
