Harsh-environment controls

Now rated NEMA/UL Type 4X/12, the new Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 40 AC drive (shown) and ArmorStart NEMA 4X from Rockwell Automation are suitable for harsh environments, including food and beverage industries.

Both systems provide protection against circulating dust and high-water pressure for equipment such as mixers, pumps, conveyor equipment, fans, packaging machinery, machine tool equipment, and more. PowerFlex 40 gives users decentralized vector control for applications demanding low-speed and high-torque control, while ArmorStart allows users to mount the motor controller near the motor for plug-and-play design. Both systems are available in 240, 480, and 600 V for applications to 5 HP.
