Baldor Electric Company: Networked drives case study
The benefits of networked drives on a packaging machine are described in a brief application case study on Baldor Electric Co.'s (Fort Smith, AR) web site at http://www.baldor.co.uk/L4/servonode.html.
The study describes how a packaging end-user upgraded its proprietary motion control architecture to an open network protocol (CAN). Benefits included greatly reducing the complexity of the central controller saving expense and software development time while greatly improving the robustness and reliability of the network.
