Hettinga Technologies (Des Moines, IA) has developed the Molded-In Lamina Hinge as a solution to problems associated with metal and one-piece plastic hinge assemblies.

The hinge can be composed of a variety of materials from carbon fiber to nonwoven PP depending on the application. Hettinga's in-molding(TM) process allows the pliant fabric to be incorporated into the primary sections because they are injection- molded. The hinges have been used in the packaging of chainsaws cosmetics kitchen utensils and collapsible packaging.
