Interlock switches

Cutler-Hammer (Westerville, OH) has introduced the E48 safety guard interlock switches, which provide a safe way to lock machine guards in place and shut down a machine automatically when the guards are removed.

The switches use three mechanical actions to ensure they cannot be actuated. Slow-action contacts are mechanically forced apart during use for fail-safe operation.
