Anderson Packaging (www.andersonpackaging.com) has purchased 12 acres of land adjacent to its existing U.S. headquarters facility in Rockford, IL, and plans to build a 200,000-sq-ft manufacturing plant.

The move will expand the company's contract pharma packaging capacity by 20%, the company said.

The additional facility will help the company grow core packaging operations, including thermoformed blisters, bottles and pouches, and secondary packaging operations such as cartons, carded blisters, and kit assembly.

“We are excited about the possibilities of continued expansion,” says Shawn Reilley, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “Anderson has been very fortunate that our customers have trusted us to launch their most important new pharmaceutical products. The success we have had with those opportunities has led to steady, continuous growth in our business.”

A wholly owned subsidiary of AmerisourceBergen Co., Anderson Packaging operates seven packaging facilities in the Rockford area occupying more than 900,000 sq ft.

Separately, Anderson Packaging announced that Chuck Aubrey has joined the company in the newly created position of vice president of process management and Lean Six Sigma.

Aubrey has extensive experience in developing continuous improvement programs at Sears, Roebuck & Co.; American Express; and Bank One. He will lead Anderson Packaging's corporate Lean Sigma programs and help to facilitate ongoing process improvements.
