MOCON, Inc. and Ronox Technology, Kobierzyce, Poland have partnered to establish a certified lab for permeation, seal strength, and leak detection testing of rigid and flexible packaging structures used in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.
To increase its emphasis on its package testing business Mocon has added Rich Barrett as new regional manager for North and South America; h3 will be responsible for spearheading sales activities for the company’s Mocon and Dansensor-branded package testing solutions in the Americas.

The most popular test for measuring gas transmission rates is described in ASTM D3985 “Standard Test Method for Oxygen Gas Transmission Rate Through Plastic Film and Sheeting Using Coulometric Sensor.”
Download 2008 seminar schedule from MOCON on leak detection, cGMP permeation testing methods, measuring transmission rates of inert gases, basics of barriers, and much more. Past seminars can be downloaded.
Three separate seminars from MOCON discuss permeation principles and how they impact testing methods. Covers the relationship between permeation, solubility and diffusion. Compares barrier properties of the most important traditional high barrier resins like EVOH, Nylon, PVdC with more recent additions to the barrier offering like PGA, COCs, MXD6 and different types of polyesters including PET, PEN and LCPs.
Traditional permeation methods used for the pharmaceutical industry are laborious and time-consuming. This seminar will present a case study comparing the USP sanctioned gravimetric methods with the instrumented methods used in MOCON's cGMP lab.
Pac Check Model 225 headspace analyzer differs from other instruments in the series in that it is a hand-held, portable unit. It’s suitable for use in MAP meat, poultry, coffee, cheese, and snack applications.
Produced by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, the Conference at Pack Expo runs from Monday, November 4 through Wednesday, November 6. Here’s the line-up. For session abstracts, go to http://pei2002.packexpo.com.
