Jackie Chan launches cosmetics line...

The action star's diverse range of businesses already include fitness clubs, restaurants, a clothing label and cookies. The Jackie Chan Organic Skin Care Line, a partnership with businesswoman Maggie Chu, launched at the beauty care product trade fair Cosmoprof Asia. Biodegradable film introduced in UK...

Innovia's NatureFlex films, made from cellulose derived from wood pulp, can be used for packaging fresh foods. In addition to being biodegradable, the film is also compostable. It provides improved dimensional stability under chill conditions, the company claims. Not to be confused with coconut milk, US producer and distributer of "value-added, water-based" products, Tropical Beverage, introduces ONE. Packed in an aseptic Tetra Pak, the product is 100% coconut water, contains no preservatives and no fat. The product has been shown to rehydrate people very fast in studies and it is a perfect drink for kids. The company says ONE has taken off in stores like Whole Foods.Source: Beverage Online

Australia's food labels inaccurate and misleading...

A study by the New South Wales Health Authority found that 30% of foods tested did not reflect the nutrient content on their packaging, even after allowing a margin of error. The study found as many of 84% of labels incorrectly stated the quantity of least one component, which would have a definite impact upon whether you would recommend the food as being high, medium or low in that nutrient.Source: abc.net.au

Totally contradicting this RFID news...

...is an article entitled, "Two Years In, RFID's Not The Cure." Talks about Cardinal Health's finding that technologies and processes have to improve. Also, "not enough suppliers, distributors, and retailers have demonstrated a commitment to RFID; standards adoption continues to lag; and privacy worries haven't been resolved." In addition, some biologics could actually be damaged by the heat generated by radio frequency waves. Source: Information Week.com

RFID reaches 100% reliability...

During the recent RFID Health Care Industry Adoption Summit in Washington D.C., packaging maker Owens-Illinois (O-I) and RFID provider Impinj demonstrated 100% reliability of radiofrequency identification (RFID) for pharmaceuticals in an item-level live demonstration.
