I had the pleasure of attending my first Shelf Impact! Package Design Workshop (PDW) last month, and it was really an eye opener.

For Byrne Dairy it’s Ethernet connectivity, and for Sierra Nevada it’s a software solution. But both firms now have better communications between processing and packaging.

Some package styles just plain fit certain product groups. A box of cereal, a tube of toothpaste, a bag of chips, a can of beans, a can of soup, a bottle of milk, a bottle of beer, a bottle of wine—in every case we automatically associate the package format with the product.
