FPA recognizes a multilayer p-s ‘book’ label for cleaners, a plastic header bag, a resealable stand-up pouch, a high-barrier industrial wrap, formable and peelable webs for a medical package, and a CR reclosable bag for pharmaceuticals.
Two improved package materials, one for cup lidding, one for microwave wrapping, secured Technical Innovation awards in the Flexible Packaging Assn. competition. Printing and Environmental Achievement awards also went to new technologies.
Plano, TX-based Dr Pepper/Seven Up was instrumental in the development of a new connector spout on syrup bags. Designed for soft drink dispensing systems, the spout could make life a lot easier for bottlers and foodservice institutions across the country.
Campbell Soup Co., Camden, NJ, hopes to bowl consumers over with a new design for “Soup to go!” that’s taller, slimmer and curvier than the ubiquitous microwavable bowls it debuted in summer ’99. Soup to go! was re-introduced in a new bowl starting last August.
