Nestlé Canada’s Nescafé Ice coffee syrup bottle earned the “Chairman’s Choice” award in the 2001 National Canadian packaging competition. Developed in conjunction with Graham Packaging Canada (Burlington, Ontario, Canada), the blow-molded, black opaque high-density polyethylene bottle has turned a lot of heads in grocery dairy aisles since its Canadian national rollout earlier this year. A U. S. introduction is expected at some point in the future.

A new shrink-wrapped package, designed by Bailey Design Group (Plymouth Meeting, PA), should help Welch’s expand consumption of its product to times of the year other than Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. “The challenge for us was to create lively packaging that ties in directly to holiday occasions and promotes a feel of family and celebration while maintaining a premium image,” says Russ Napolitano, executive vice president and partner at Bailey.
