'Glass' polymer selected for shower gel
“We required a packaging solution that expressed the core values of the Alexander McQueen label: luxury elegance and originality” says Charles Pileur packaging specifier at YSL Beauté. “At the same time being a bath product it was equally important that the product was safe to use and [the package] would not break if dropped.”
The 200-mL package is supplied by PRP Creation in France which uses coextrusion/blow-molding to make the container. A clear inner layer prevents the pigment in the outer layer from reacting with the contents. The copolyester is said to provide light transmission rates above 90% even when container sidewalls are thick as is the case with this one. The appearance matches the look of glass. The material’s chemical properties help give it strength and resistance to shock so it will not fracture even if dropped.
“The unique combination of sturdiness and clarity of Eastman’s Glass Polymer has met our expectations admirably and made an important contribution to a successful product launch” Pileur states.
