Pigmented PET puts squeeze on convenience
An easy-to-use cleaner that takes the strain out of removing oil stains on concrete or masonry now boasts easy-to-use packaging. Edgewater Industries’ Pour-N-Restore was relaunched this spring in new squeeze bottles.
The custom white-pigmented 16- and 32-oz PET bottles are blow-molded by Novapak with ridges on the sides for easy gripping. A polypropylene flip-top cap from Polytop replaces a screw cap.
“These containers are better looking more convenient and cost less” says marketing director Scott Hewitt. The previous containers were fluorinated high-density polyethylene in quart and gallon F-style containers the latter of which Edgewater retains.
Before the product’s thick formulation could drip down the sides and dry on the bottle after pouring. Now the pigmented bottle and product’s squeeze delivery maintain a clean-looking appearance throughout the product’s life.
The company bottles the products at its headquarters plant in Spring Lake MI where the only production change was a minor adjustment to the filler according to production manager Kevin Keck. Front and back polymeric pressure-sensitive labels carry package graphics. The bottle’s induction seal permits it to be sold and shipped via mail order Hewitt points out. The product’s merchandising program includes a 12-count corrugated tray shelf display and a floor display of 20-count 16-oz and 12-count 32-oz bottles. The PET-bottled products are sold in Ace Hardware and independent hardware stores for $6.99 and $10.99. —RL
