So management elected to package them in containers that complement this environmental profile: injection-molded polypropylene containers that are 25% post-consumer PP. Supplied by RPC Containers Oakham (www.rpc-oakham.co.uk), their offset-printed graphics in a distinctive green include carefully branded messages featuring a prominent statement proclaiming the containers’ recycled content. Both 5- and 10-L containers are available.

Like other Dulux Trade items, the Ecosure line is aimed not at do-in-yourself consumers but rather at professional decorators and specifiers. ICI Paints says it developed the formula for Ecosure paints by using an “Environmental Impact Analyzer,” an analytical tool from Forum for the Future (www.forumforthefuture.org.uk), a leading sustainability development agency. This tool, says ICI Paints, enabled ICI to scrutinize its paint from raw materials to the point in the supply chain that the product is packaged and readied for distribution. The tool confirms a reduction in carbon and Volatile Organic Compounds that are emitted.

Says Dulux Trade brand manager David Shepherd, “RPC’s contribution has enabled us to offer packaging that reflects our commitment to sustainability.”
