Design: Sophisticated redesign

Last summer, Geyserville, CA-based Peak Wines Intl., a subsidiary of Jim Beam Brands, redesigned packaging for its Canyon Road line. The redesign, carried out by Michael Osborne Design (San Francisco, CA), combines the qualities of approachability and sophistication in a label created to appeal to young, urban, professional wine drinkers.

The angular pressure-sensitive label has an arts-and-crafts almost prairie style-like quality and was intended to deliver a dynamic “California look.” The borders of the c-shaped labels are color coded to represent each varietal in the line. Litho-printed in seven colors the labels lend an image of casual elegance.
