Corrugated process

 EcT Plus corrugated enhancement process from Enviro-Tek (Dallas, TX) allows sheets to be formulated to most strength specifications. EcT Plus uses a bipolymer coating that can be applied with rod, blade or roller coaters, on or off line, at the paper mill or at the corrugated plant.

Delivery system for coding/marking

 Algene's (Garfield, NJ) TR 9632 delivery system can be fitted onto most manufacturers' ink-jet printers and labelers, says the company. It uses an automatic feed hopper and a registration mechanism to provide accurate feeding of flat objects such as blister cards and folding cartons, at speeds to 120 pieces/min.

Gapped flap box taping

 Designed to reduce corrugated material costs, a new taping system from 3M Masking and Packaging Systems (St. Paul, MN) permits the use of RSCs with shorter top and bottom flaps with up to a 3" gap in the middle.

Continuous-motion case packer

 Hartness (Greenville, SC) has introduced the OctoPack(TM) continuous-motion case packer. It packs plastic or glass containers of most shapes and sizes into a range of case types, including RSCs, corrugated trays, tab lock trays, and soft drink or dairy-type cases with or without partitions, of any depth.

Tabletop carton/card printer

Ink-jet printhead

 The Eight-Shooter is a high-frequency printhead from Imaging Technologies (Cookeville, TN) that can print characters, bar codes and graphics directly onto corrugated containers at speeds to 250/min at 154 dpi resolution.

Linerboard

 Visy Paper (Staten Island, NY) has introduced VisyTuff(TM) 75, a high-performance linerboard with a minimum ring crush-resistance of 75 lb. Offers superior stacking strength, product protection and improved performance over corrugated during packaging, storage and distribution, according to the supplier.

Unitizing system

 Glue-Fast (Carlstadt, NJ) has introduced the Model LC, a compact glue applicator that stabilizes smaller palletized loads of corrugated cartons, cases, multi-wall paper bags, plastic bags and shrink-wrapped items.

Hot melt-coated tape

 Linear Products (Vancouver, WA) has released RPT (Reinforced Paper Tape), a 2"-wide tape designed for cost-effective, heavy-duty reinforcement of corrugated boxes.

Cartonboard

 FineFlute cartonboard from F.N. Burt (Buffalo, NY) consists of high-quality paperboard laminated to lightweight, single-flute corrugated. This allows a combination of high quality decoration and strength.

Plastic corrugated totes
